What to Expect During Your Cabinet Painting Project — Day by Day
No Surprises. Just a Smooth Process.
One of the things homeowners appreciate most about working with Simpli Painted is knowing exactly what to expect before the project even begins. Cabinet painting might seem disruptive — after all, your kitchen is one of the most-used rooms in your home. But with the right process, it’s far less intrusive than most homeowners anticipate. Here’s a transparent, day-by-day look at how a typical Simpli Painted project unfolds.

Before the Project Starts: The Free Quote Visit
Before anything else, Ronald visits your home for a free, no-obligation quote. He’ll look at your cabinets, discuss your color goals, walk you through the process, and give you a clear, honest price. There’s no deposit required to book — and no payment of any kind until the job is completely finished and you love the results.
During this visit is a great time to finalize your color selection. Ronald is happy to share what’s worked well in similar kitchens and can help you think through undertones, light conditions, and complementary finishes if you’re still deciding.
Day 1: Disassembly & Pickup
Ronald arrives and begins the careful process of removing every door and drawer front from your cabinets. Each piece is labeled to ensure it goes back in exactly the right location — proper alignment matters for both appearance and function. The doors and drawer fronts are loaded and transported to the shop for painting.
You’ll have open cabinet boxes in your kitchen from this point until reinstallation — but your kitchen remains fully functional. You can still access everything inside your cabinets, cook normally, and use your kitchen without any significant disruption.
Days 2 & 3: Shop Work
Your doors and drawer fronts are being transformed at the shop — cleaned, sanded, filled, primed, and spray-painted in a controlled environment free of dust and wind. This off-site process is one of the key reasons Simpli Painted delivers a cleaner, more consistent finish than painters who spray doors while they’re still hanging in your kitchen.
While the shop work is underway, Ronald will confirm the schedule for returning to your home for the cabinet box painting.
Day 4: Cabinet Box Painting in Your Home
Ronald returns to your home to paint the cabinet boxes — the frames that remain fixed to your walls. All countertops, appliances, and surrounding surfaces are carefully masked to protect them. The boxes are cleaned, prepped, and spray-painted to match the doors and drawer fronts.
This is the most involved day in terms of having Ronald working in your kitchen, but the process is clean and contained. Most homeowners are surprised by how tidy the workspace stays.
Day 5: Reinstallation & Final Walkthrough
The freshly finished doors and drawer fronts are returned and carefully rehung in their original positions. Hardware is reinstalled, all masking is removed, and the workspace is thoroughly cleaned.
Before Ronald considers the job complete, he does a full walkthrough with you — checking every door, every drawer, every surface. If anything isn’t exactly right, it gets addressed before he leaves. This is when you pay — and only when you are completely happy with the results.
After the Project: Curing & Care
Paint continues to cure and harden for several weeks after application. During the first two weeks, handle your cabinets gently and avoid harsh cleaning products. After full curing, your cabinets can be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap — the finish is durable, washable, and built to handle the daily demands of a real kitchen.
Ronald’s promise: If you notice anything after the project is complete that doesn’t look right, reach out. He stands behind his work and will make it right — no arguments, no excuses.
The typical Simpli Painted project runs about five days from start to finish. Larger or more complex kitchens may take a day or two longer — Ronald will give you a clear timeline during your quote visit so you know exactly what to plan for.
